What's in your cyber security backpack?

  • Transcript

Your backpack is filled with tools to help you succeed in school. Since your devices are a big part of your school year, why not include some cyber tools that will keep you safe online?

Take a look inside your cyber security backpack: (image of a colourful backpack with asterisks on a note pad, a lock, a book, a pen, and glasses)

    Password manager:

Whether it's for accounts related to school, social media or online gaming, a password manager keeps all your passwords organized and safe from outside threats. Think of a traditional notebook that you use to remember and organize notes, except a password manager is like an extra secret notebook. (image of a note pad with asterisks)

    Multi-factor authentication (MFA):

Just like a lock protecting the contents of your locker, MFA is a great tool that adds an extra layer of protection to your online activity. Check which of your accounts and devices can be secured with MFA. (image of a padlock)

    Automatic updates:

Updating your agenda keeps you running at your best. Enabling automatic updates does the same for your devices by keeping them running at their optimal and most secure levels. (image of a book and pen)

    Staying alert for scams:

Staying alert and knowing how to identify scams is an important part of protecting yourself online. Don't forget to put on your cyber safe specs for a cyber secure school year. (image of glasses)
